Sports-Specific Strength & Conditioning

Strength and conditioning for an athlete is not general gym work. It is built backwards from the demands of the sport, the position and the individual's testing numbers, and it runs alongside sport training rather than competing with it.

Programming here starts from assessment: where strength is asymmetrical, which movement patterns break down under fatigue, where capacity runs out relative to what a full match or event requires, and what the sport specifically asks of you. A centre back and a winger need different conditioning. A 10km runner and a cyclist need different strength work.

Programmes typically combine lower-limb strength with an emphasis on eccentric capacity, trunk and hip control through the patterns your sport uses, posterior-chain work for sprint and change-of-direction tolerance, and energy-system conditioning matched to the demands of the event.

Load is prescribed in numbers rather than by feel, progressed against retesting, and documented so you can see what has changed. For athletes training within a club structure, programming is written to fit the existing training week instead of adding to it blindly.

Not sure this is what you need? The first appointment is an assessment. You will get an accurate diagnosis and an honest plan, even if that plan is a referral elsewhere. Call 076 174 9656 or book online.
