Late-Stage Sports Rehab & Load Management

Late-stage rehabilitation is the phase most frequently skipped, and skipping it is the most common reason injuries recur.

By this point pain has settled and range has returned, which feels like the end of the process and is not. Strength is typically still asymmetrical, tissue capacity is well below what competition will demand, and movement quality degrades under fatigue in ways that a rested assessment will not reveal. Returning to sport from this state is how a resolved injury becomes a recurring one.

The late stage closes that gap deliberately: progressive heavy loading of the affected tissue, plyometric and reactive work, change-of-direction and deceleration mechanics, sport-specific drills under fatigue, and a graded exposure plan back into full training and then competition.

Load management runs throughout. Training volume is planned rather than guessed, acute increases are kept within tolerable limits, and the athlete learns to recognise the difference between the discomfort of adaptation and the signal of overload, which is knowledge that outlasts the programme.

Not sure this is what you need? The first appointment is an assessment. You will get an accurate diagnosis and an honest plan, even if that plan is a referral elsewhere. Call 076 174 9656 or book online.
