Specialized Joint Mobilization & Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is hands-on treatment applied to a joint or its surrounding soft tissue to restore movement and reduce pain. Graded joint mobilisation, soft tissue techniques and, where appropriate, manipulation all fall within it.

The evidence on manual therapy is clear and worth stating plainly: it produces meaningful short-term improvements in pain and range of movement, and those improvements hold when it is combined with exercise. On its own, the benefit fades. That is why manual therapy here is a means of opening a window (a stiff joint that moves better, a muscle that will now let you load it) rather than the treatment itself.

Techniques are selected from your assessment. A stiff thoracic spine limiting a golfer's rotation is treated differently from an irritable shoulder in a swimmer, and both are treated differently from a post-surgical knee that will not reach full extension.

You should expect to understand what is being done and why, and to leave with exercises that hold the change you felt on the table.

Not sure this is what you need? The first appointment is an assessment. You will get an accurate diagnosis and an honest plan, even if that plan is a referral elsewhere. Call 076 174 9656 or book online.
