Postural and Ergonomic Assessments
Athletes train for one to two hours a day. They sit at a desk for eight. The clinical irony of spending hours managing a shoulder, neck, or back condition in a physiotherapy practice while the patient spends their working hours in the posture that caused the condition is not lost at this practice. Postural and ergonomic assessments address the desk setup, the chair height, the monitor position, the keyboard and mouse arrangement, and the movement habits that accumulate loading on the cervical spine, thoracic spine, and shoulder girdle over a working day.
Ergonomic assessment at this practice goes beyond advice about chair height. It includes a clinical assessment of the patient's specific postural profile, the direction of their spinal loading, the muscles that are shortened and overactive, the muscles that are lengthened and inhibited, and provides targeted exercise and movement correction that counteracts those patterns specifically. The ergonomic recommendations follow from the clinical assessment rather than preceding it.
